Leland Dent was born in Washington near the Seattle area. Leland is currently 22 years old and embarking on a music career as a performer, composer, arranger, producer and recording engineer. He began playing music at the age of 5 and at the age of 16 recorded his first full length CD. His easy listening/adult contemporary piano driven music has caught the attention of music industry icons such as Jim Brickman and George Winston.
Currently, Leland is involved in promoting 3 of his recorded albums. They include “Looking Back”, “Winter”, and “Original Piano Solos”. Leland is also busy producing artists in the adult contemporary, R&B and Pop genres through his own company as well as providing production/engineering services for several other record labels.
At the age of 5, Leland began piano lessons with his mother, a professional music teacher in the Kent, Washington area. By the age of 8 he had won his first award for composition. Throughout his remaining years in elementary, Jr. High and High School, he continued placing in music composition competitions. He has placed at many National composition contests sponsored by major companies such as Baldwin. Throughout high school Leland also played trombone and piano in the nationally awarded and acclaimed, Kentlake High School Jazz Band. He had the opportunity of traveling to such places as New York, to play at Lincoln Center, Monterey Jazz Festival (California), New Orleans Jazz Festival, and the Lionell Hampton Jazz Festival (Idaho).
He is currently thinking of attending Berklee College Of Music, in Boston, and gradually expanding his company. He will continue recording, performing and promoting his own music.
